As the owner of Silver Salmon Creek Lodge, I’d like to share a little of my back-ground and welcome you to browse through our web site.  I came to Alaska at age 2, in 1953, my parents being school teachers in the Lake Clark/Lake Iliamna area.  My first memories in life revolved around playing outdoors and witnessing scenes of abundant fishing, hunting, and boating in Alaska’s wild “:bush,” where we lived in a log cabin, packed our own water, and enjoyed a robust and rewarding lifestyle.

Later, after my father was lost in a plane crash, we moved to the Kenai Peninsula, where I graduated from high school.  Psychology was my subject of interest in college, which I studied at the University of Alaska at Fairbanks.  After working several years at  a group home for troubled adolescents, I decided there was no better way to blend my love for the outdoors and still work with people than by establishing a wilderness facility where I could appreciate both.

I bought our current establishment in 1983, a potential lodge at the time, changed the name and nurtured it into an established recreation destination, under the same management now for 22 years.  In 1991 I met Joanne Edney, a physician in Colorado, and after a long courtship, we married in 2002.  Sharing the same interest in hosting guests from all over America and the world, along with enjoying the natural beauty and experiences at “Silver Salmon,” has added greatly to my enthusiasm in managing the lodge.  It is our hope that by offering personalized tours and activities from brown bear photo trips to world class salmon fishing, we can provide life long memories in an ecologically sound manner to all our visiting guests.

With 40 acres of private land within Lake Clark National Park and a 14 guest maximum, we hope to see you at Silver Salmon, where our 50% returning guests enjoy an informal and casual atmosphere, renowned food service and partake in adventure-based outdoor activities unequaled in diversity and personalization.
